2025 SUMMER LAW INTERNSHIP AT THE IMPACT FUND
The Impact Fund is a civil rights legal nonprofit committed to using class and impact litigation to achieve economic, environmental, racial, and social justice. We are based in Berkeley, California, and are accepting applications for a summer law intern to support our litigation program for the summer of 2025.
About the Impact Fund: The Impact Fund strives to achieve economic, environmental, racial, and social justice through (1) litigation, (2) attorney training, and (3) legal grant-making. We serve as lead counsel, co-counsel, and amicus counsel in select class action and impact litigation. We pursue a diverse litigation docket of civil rights impact cases. We also provide strategic leadership, training, and expertise on issues that arise in impact litigation. Finally, we provide grants supporting impact litigation in civil rights, human rights, environmental justice, and poverty law.
Responsibilities: The summer law intern will work on our ongoing litigation and amicus efforts, as well as other case work. The law intern’s responsibilities will include conducting legal research, investigating factual issues, writing legal memos, and other activities as they emerge. We include the summer law intern in legal team meetings and most co-counsel meetings and discussions, so that they learn about developing litigation strategies in high-impact civil rights cases. They are also invited to join attorney trainings offered during the summer. The internship is hybrid remote/in-person (currently two in-person office days required per week), full-time (40 hours per week), and typically requires a 10-week commitment.
Qualifications:
A demonstrated commitment to social justice, public interest, and/or civil rights issues.
Cultural competency including awareness of personal attitudes, beliefs, and biases, and ability to effectively and respectfully receive and communicate information across social demographics.
Excellent research and writing skills.
