The Center for Protest Law & Litigation, a project of the Partnership for Civil Justice Fund, seeks a highly skilled, enthusiastic, and motivated civil rights attorney to join in the litigation of existing cases and the development of new litigation, theories, and initiatives to defend and advance constitutional rights and social and environmental justice in the United States. This work will involve the range of PCJF’s civil rights matters, including police misconduct, with a special focus on the work of the Center for Protest Law & Litigation regarding legal matters at the intersection of First and Fourth Amendment rights in the context of free speech, assembly, and protest. The attorney will work on both civil litigation and on criminal defense of demonstrators subject to arrest for First Amendment activities, as well as transparency and FOIA matters. OUF.

Promise of Justice Initiative | Civil Litigation Staff Attorney (New Orleans, LA) [$65,000 - $87,000]

PJI’s legal department has a track record of securing landmark wins, including Ramos v. Louisiana, in which the United States Supreme Court found that non-unanimous jury convictions (Jim Crow Juries) were unconstitutional. The PJI civil litigation team is currently litigating forced labor in prisons, the detention of incarcerated people past their release dates, and the deprivation of proper medical care for people in prison, among other challenges. Staff attorneys assist with case development, strategy, and procedure and will serve as counsel in PJI’s civil litigation cases. This position requires a commitment and belief in the ethos that our clients and their families are valuable, have answers, and should be consulted and heard because they are humans and because what we learn from our clients impacts the strength of evidence and influences litigation strategy. All attorneys at PJI are expected to center their clients in their legal practice and regularly visit in person, in prison, or elsewhere. OUF.

Public Justice Center | Attorney (Baltimore, MD) [$78,000 - $89,000]

The PJC’s Workplace Justice Project seeks to advance justice, equity, and worker power in the workplace. Project attorneys approach this mission through a broad array of strategies, including representing low-wage workers in wage-theft suits in state and federal courts; providing know-your-rights education to workers and community groups; and engaging in worker-focused policy advocacy before the Maryland General Assembly in partnership with other advocates and organizations. We also make space to take on additional work outside of these areas as needed. We work closely with unions, grassroots membership organizations, and other community groups and follow the lead of the individuals most impacted by injustice. We focus on industries where wage theft is common and where people of color comprise a disproportionate part of the workforce. Attorneys in the Workplace Justice Project are encouraged to develop and pursue their own ideas in line with the PJC’s priorities and approaches to systemic change. The attorney will report to the managing attorney of the Workplace Justice team. We will accept applications and conduct interviews on a rolling basis until the position is filled, but priority consideration will be given to applications received by March 30, 2026.

The Legal Director leads QT’s Legal Advocacy and Education Program, which seeks to promote and defend the rights of people with developmental disabilities. This includes direct legal representation of people with disabilities in DC seeking alternatives to guardianship; local and national policy advocacy; and community outreach and training. The Legal Director also works with DC government, DC courts, provider agencies, and the broader DC community to ensure that people with developmental disabilities have access to high-quality representation. The Legal Director administers the National Resource Center for Supported Decision-Making to advance the decision-making rights of people with disabilities and older adults through training, technical assistance, and promotion of promising practices. Southern Center for Human Rights (SCHR) | Senior Attorney (Atlanta, GA) [$105,000 - $120,000]

Southern Center for Human Rights (SCHR), a leading force challenging unconstitutional practices of the criminal legal system through federal and state litigation in Alabama and Georgia, is seeking nominations and applications for a Senior Attorney to join the Impact Litigation Unit (ILU). Reporting to the Director of the ILU, this new Senior Attorney will work cases in the Impact Litigation Unit. This work includes the supervision of lawyers and investigators, collaboration with colleagues in other units, and public communication and advocacy. They will also manage all aspects of their class action case load, including: drafting complaints, briefs, litigation correspondence, and discovery documents; taking depositions; preparing for and conducting evidentiary hearings; conducting settlement negotiations; and monitoring and enforcing consent decrees. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 years’ experience building and litigating civil rights cases, from intake to case settlement or trial, with significant expertise in Section 1983 litigation in federal court; the Prison Litigation Reform Act; qualified immunity; and supervisory liability claims. Their expertise will also include best practices in representing Black and Brown clients and those from low income backgrounds. They will be an experienced manager and mentor who delegates thoughtfully, models effective interpersonal communication and collaborates across departments. They will have a refined expertise in the legacies of slavery, Jim Crow, anti-Indigenous policies, anti-poverty policies, and other social and political patterns that define the legal system in the deep south. Given SCHR’s mission, we are particularly interested in applicants who have been intimately impacted by the carceral system, poverty, and the criminalization of Black and Brown folks in the U.S. OUF.
