On Thursday, May 8, 120 of the Impact Fund's friends and supporters joined us in San Francisco to celebrate our 21st Anniversary and to recognize the heroes who fight for social justice through impact litigation.

Impact Fund Grant Advisory Committee member, Michael Caesar, served as the evening's emcee. We honored the T.R. v. Quigley Litigation Team for their relentless work challenging the State of Washington's failure to provide adequate mental health services for children. The award was accepted by Leecia Welch, Senior Attorney at the National Center for Youth Law, and David Carlson, Director of Legal Advocacy at Disability Rights Washington. They were joined at the podium by Tina Fricke, a 19-year old young woman and named plaintiff in the case. Tina's courage in pursuing the case was an inspiration for all of us.

We also honored former U.S. Ambassador to Australia, Jeffrey L. Bleich, for his outstanding efforts and unparalleled dedication to public service. His former boss, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, sent her best wishes and detailed some of his many accomplishments during his tenure. She described Jeff as a "tireless champion for the disadvantaged." She also expressed her gratitude for the Impact Fund's "efforts to train lawyers to promote social justice" and for giving grants "to advance the rule of law across the globe."
