At the Impact Fund, we are inspired by the heroes who fight for social justice in their communities every day. Each year, we show our appreciation by bringing together California’s social justice community and its supporters to honor a few of these champions.

Over 200 guests joined us on May 9, 2012 at the Westin St. Francis Hotel. Against the spectacular backdrop of the San Francisco skyline, Impact Fund Board Member Eric Havian emceed a program that made us all deeply appreciate why we do what we do.

It was with great pride that we honored local attorney Denise Abrams for her lifetime dedication to worker safety and women’s rights, as well as for her generous support of the Impact Fund grant program. We recognized the work of one of our grant recipients, Access Living of Metropolitan Chicago, for its significant victory last year to ensure that people with disabilities continue to live in their own communities. Finally, we applauded the courage and talent of award-winning performing arts pioneer Rita Moreno. Moreno endured and ultimately triumphed against the discriminatory culture of the entertainment industry and her story, told with passion and humor, was unforgettable.
