The very first time I ever got a note from a Top Class Actions reader about the impact settlement money had made on her life, it was just amazing.

Here I am, a guy with a small business to tell stories about class action lawsuits, and suddenly it becomes clear to me that the work we’re doing is having a profound impact on the lives of millions of people. We’re adding value for people. But you know, until you actually get that kind of feedback, you just don't know for sure. So it’s validating and wonderful to hear.

Our readers really get emotional in their responses sometimes. So, whenever we get that note saying: “Hey yeah you know this year I didn’t know where Christmas presents were going to come from, and then we got this surprise $150 check. That settlement money means I’m able to buy presents for my kids for Christmas,” it strikes a chord.

Our biggest fans, write to tell us about how they were able to qualify for enough settlements to recoup $1,000 or $3000, $4,000 a year.

These are actual messages about the everyday struggles and hopes of everyday people, overcoming obstacles. What’s amazing is that people qualify for all sorts of class action settlements, and I’m grateful to play my part in helping those people find out about them.

When you're out and about in the world, you're not thinking about how you can get some justice for that consumer issue you had, that product that broke, that job you didn’t get, you're just thinking about working and living and taking care of your kids.

Still to this day I get messages from people saying things like, “I've been living paycheck to paycheck and whatever I get from these settlements, I can use to give my family a little entertainment, a little treat because everything else goes to bills and paying rent. Your team’s work allowed me to find out about the pool of money that I was eligible for, and it was enough to take my kids out for dinner, you know, have my family out for dinner.”

Those checks can only flow to people who are entitled to them with a little help from the entire movement for class action justice. We all play our part by creating attractive notices written in language people can understand, and by making sure those notices get in front of as many class members as possible.

Settlement checks can add up to a significant amount. Some of the regular viewers on our website, Top Class Actions, know this to be true. These awesome individuals, our biggest fans, write to tell us about how they were able to qualify for enough settlements to recoup $1,000 or $3000, $4,000 a year. That's a lot of money for most people. It reminds me that when we’re engaging with communities on social media, like our teachers who live paycheck to paycheck, we are saying to them:  This is your money—submit your claim!

I have always believed that we’re fighting to right consumer wrongs, but every time I hear directly from someone whose life has been changed it makes our work especially cool, knowing that we are helping people find some relief.
